HOMEOWNER Services

Enjoy watching the changing seasons in your own private sanctuary, filled with scent, colour and wildlife

For Homeowners

I work with clients who want to transform unloved or underused outdoor spaces to create bespoke uplifting everyday escapes that work for their lifestyle, enhancing and complementing the home that they have created. Whether your garden is a muddy mess after home renovations, you have inherited a dated garden, or one that just doesn’t suit the way you live, I will use my design and construction experience combined with my plant knowledge to reimagine your outside space. I also provide you with the information you need to help you keep it looking beautiful, providing advice and support throughout and beyond the design process.  I love working collaboratively, listening to what clients really want from their garden, helping them to form that into a brief, then exploring options to create their own plant filled haven, embracing seasonality, scent and colour to induce a sense of calm and wellbeing.

I offer a flexible service where the following work phases can be provided separately or all together, depending on your needs. As a guide, my design charges start at £450. A medium sized London domestic garden is likely to cost in the region of £30,000 + VAT to build with full design services charged at around 15% of the construction cost. This is a very rough guide as costs (both to build and to design) vary relative to size, complexity and the ratio of hard to soft landscaping.

1/ Concept Phase:

Providing Inspiration from real information

I meet with you and work with you to  form a brief

I then:

  • Arrange a survey either by myself or others depending on the complexity of the site

  • Carry out a site analysis noting light and wind conditions, views, soil type, existing materials and plants

  • Offer 2 Scaled Sketch Design Options informed by the real dimensions and site conditions of your garden

  • Create moodboards to discuss materials, planting & precedents

  • Meet with you to discuss these

If you would like to build and plant your garden yourself or you are not sure when you might carry out your garden redesign, some informed  inspiration and guidance might be all that you need.

2/ Presentation Plan Phase

Defining your dream garden

Using sketches and moodboards I explore and refine your preferred layout to produce a scaled layout plan, showing the kind of materials and planting that will be in each area. Two revisions of your preferred concept design are included in my fee to arrive at this stage.

A landscaper will be able to provide a budget quote from this drawing, and if you are happy to work with a landscaper directly from here this might be all that you need.

3/ Construction Phase

Nailing the detail and quality

Quantities & detailed specifications are produced to nail the look, performance and quality of the build.

  • CAD layouts are produced showing setting out dimensions for construction as well as any lighting, drainage and irrigation required

  • Unusual or complex construction details are drawn

  • Planting Plans and schedules are drawn up showing full Latin plant names, numbers and positions. 1.*

  • Design is sent to tendering contractors

  • Site monitoring at agreed intervals is provided to ensure the construction is carried out to the agreed design

  • A maintenance plan is provided by ‘Shoot Gardening’ to help you or others keep your garden looking beautiful 2. *

1.Some clients choose to add a Planting Design Service onto the Presentation Plan Phase without additional construction services.

CRGD can supply plants from trusted trade nurseries. In this case a site visit to take delivery of the plants and set them out is a required service.

2.Garden reviews with additional planting advice can also be arranged on an annual basis or on a one off basis

A full service from the first meeting through to visiting to confirm that the construction is complete is an investment to create a beautiful, carefully considered garden that will provide enjoyment for many years to come.
