Catriona Rowbotham Garden Design is based in south east London and primarily works with clients based in London and the surrounding counties.
After 20+ years in architecture, I retrained in garden design when clients began asking me to “fix” the gardens my extensions had wrecked. I loved gardening but wanted the right training, so headed to The English Gardening School. Within two years I was teaching where I’d studied, and had won a global competition to design a public courtyard.
Sustainability and design excellence have always guided my work, from working for Gaia Scotland to Dominique Perrault in Paris and then leading London practices. Now I bring that experience to gardens; combining spatial design with planting to create spaces that are thoughtful, individual, and built to last.
Today I’m Course Director at The English Gardening School, still endlessly curious about planting and design, and committed to never delivering cookie cutter solutions for my clients. For me, gardens are vital to human wellbeing; offering beauty, connection with nature, and the chance to leave our patch of earth better than we found it.
If you’d like a garden that enhances your wellbeing and the world around you, please do get in touch as I’d love to work with you.
